Author Guidelines

Authors should submit only papers that have been carefully proofread and polished. Manuscripts are accepted with the understanding that they are original or extended versions of previously published papers in conferences and/or journals and that, if the work received an official sponsorship, it has been duly released for open publication. Before submission please make sure that your paper is prepared using the journal paper template. The authors must refer to [Jurnal Al-I'lam] for writing format and style (please download and use as a template for an initial manuscript submission). This will ensure fast processing and publication. Any papers not fulfilling the requirements based on the guideline to authors will not be processed.

ADDITIONAL SCIENTIFIC QUALITY REQUIREMENTS

1. Research Originality and Novelty (F.4)

All manuscripts submitted to Al-I'lam: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam must demonstrate originality and a clear scholarly contribution within the journal's focus and scope.

The Introduction must identify the research problem, critically discuss relevant previous studies, explain the research gap, and clearly state the study's novelty and objectives.

Novelty may be demonstrated through new empirical findings, theoretical contributions, methodological developments, or contextually significant insights. Authors must substantiate their novelty claims with relevant scientific literature.

2. Research Methodology, Analysis, and Synthesis (F.5)

Authors must clearly describe the research design, data sources, participant or sample selection, data collection procedures, analytical techniques, and relevant ethical considerations.

The Results section must present findings supported by verifiable research data.

The Discussion section must go beyond descriptive reporting. Authors must critically interpret their findings, relate them to appropriate theoretical frameworks, compare them with previous studies, and explain their implications for communication, media, Islamic communication, or da'wah scholarship.

Conclusions must address the research objectives and must not introduce claims unsupported by the findings.

3. Primary Scholarly References (F.7)

Authors should prioritize credible, relevant, and verifiable primary scholarly references.

As an internal quality target, empirical research manuscripts are encouraged to include at least 15 relevant references, with primary scholarly sources comprising more than 80% of the reference list, where appropriate to the research design.

The selection of references must be based on academic relevance and research needs. Classical Islamic texts, foundational theories, and other essential sources remain acceptable when directly relevant to the study.

All citations, reference details, and DOI links must be accurate and traceable.

4. Currency of References (F.8)

Authors must demonstrate engagement with current scholarly developments by prioritizing recent publications relevant to their research topic.

Recent peer-reviewed studies, particularly those published within the preceding five years, should be considered where available and appropriate.

Older scholarly works may be retained when they provide essential theoretical, historical, or Islamic scholarly foundations.

Authors must not add irrelevant references solely to meet numerical or publication-year targets.

5. Editorial Quality Assessment

All submissions will undergo an initial editorial screening to assess their alignment with the journal's focus and scope, originality, methodological rigor, analytical depth, reference quality, research ethics, and compliance with the journal's Author Guidelines.

Manuscripts that do not meet the journal's requirements may be returned for clarification or declined before external peer review.

Final editorial decisions remain the responsibility of the designated journal editors.

Plagiarism and Similarity Screening Policy

All manuscripts submitted to Al-I'lam: Jurnal Komunikasi dan Penyiaran Islam must be original and free from plagiarism, inappropriate text recycling, and duplicate publication.

The journal applies an internal similarity screening threshold of less than 15%, using Turnitin or equivalent similarity-detection software. References and properly quoted material may be excluded according to consistently applied screening settings.

All manuscripts are subject to editorial screening before peer review. The editorial team evaluates the similarity report by considering the source, extent, location, attribution, and context of textual overlap.

A similarity score below 15% does not automatically establish originality or guarantee acceptance. Manuscripts containing unattributed copying or other forms of plagiarism may be returned for clarification or revision, or rejected following editorial assessment.

Authors are responsible for ensuring accurate citation, appropriate paraphrasing, and compliance with the journal's publication ethics policy.
