Straw mushroom (Volvariella volvacea L.) is a horticultural commodity with high economic value and good nutritional content, but its production in Indonesia remains low due to suboptimal growing media and nutrients. This study aimed to determine the effect of growing media composition and various plant growth regulators (PGRs) on the growth and yield of straw mushrooms. The experiment used a factorial Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with two factors: growing media composition (100% straw, 50% straw + 50% cogon grass, and 100% cogon grass) and PGR application (without PGR, 10% bamboo shoot extract, and 2 ppm BAP), with three replications. Results showed that the interaction between media composition and PGR significantly affected total fruit body count and total fruit body weight. The best combination was 100% straw media with 10% bamboo shoot extract PGR (A1B1), producing 126.67 fruit bodies and total weight of 1957.33 grams. Straw-based media was more optimal than pure cogon grass, while natural PGR from bamboo shoot extract was more effective than synthetic BAP in increasing straw mushroom productivity.
