Publication Ethics

The Journal of Information Technology and System Integration (JITSI) is committed to maintaining the highest standards of publication ethics and takes all possible measures against publication malpractice. This statement is based on the principles and guidelines developed by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE).

All parties involved in the publication process, including authors, editors, reviewers, and the publisher, are expected to adhere to ethical standards and best practices in scholarly publishing.

Ethical Responsibilities of Authors

Authors submitting manuscripts to JITSI must ensure that:

Originality and Plagiarism

Authors must submit original work and appropriately cite or quote the work and ideas of others. Any form of plagiarism is unacceptable.

Multiple, Redundant, or Concurrent Publication

Authors should not submit the same manuscript simultaneously to more than one journal or publish substantially similar research in multiple journals.

Data Access and Retention

Authors should provide accurate data and be prepared to provide access to the underlying data if requested by the editors.

Authorship of the Manuscript

Authorship should be limited to individuals who have made significant contributions to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the study.

Disclosure of Conflicts of Interest

Authors must disclose any financial or other conflicts of interest that may influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript.

Fundamental Errors in Published Works

If authors discover significant errors in their published work, they must promptly notify the editor and cooperate in correcting or retracting the article.

Ethical Responsibilities of Reviewers

Reviewers contribute significantly to editorial decisions and should:

Confidentiality

Treat all manuscripts as confidential documents and not disclose information to anyone without authorization from the editor.

Objectivity

Conduct reviews objectively and provide constructive comments supported by clear arguments.

Acknowledgment of Sources

Identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors and report substantial similarity with other published works.

Conflict of Interest

Decline to review manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest arising from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships with any of the authors.

Ethical Responsibilities of Editors

Editors are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of the journal.

Publication Decisions

Editors evaluate manuscripts based solely on academic merit, originality, significance, clarity, and relevance to the journal scope.

Fair Play

Editors evaluate manuscripts without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality

Editors must not disclose information about submitted manuscripts to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, editorial advisers, and publisher.

Conflict of Interest

Editors should not use unpublished materials disclosed in submitted manuscripts for their own research without the author's written consent.

Ethical Responsibilities of the Publisher

The publisher, Universitas Muhammadiyah Mataram through the Institute for Research and Community Service (LPPM UMMAT), is committed to ensuring that editorial decisions remain independent and free from commercial influence.

The publisher supports editors in handling ethical issues, allegations of misconduct, corrections, retractions, and other matters related to publication integrity.

Allegations of Research Misconduct

JITSI will investigate allegations of:

  • Plagiarism
  • Data fabrication
  • Data falsification
  • Duplicate publication
  • Citation manipulation
  • Authorship disputes
  • Undisclosed conflicts of interest

Appropriate actions may include:

  • Manuscript rejection
  • Article correction
  • Article retraction
  • Notification to the author's institution
  • Temporary or permanent submission restrictions

Publication Malpractice

Any form of unethical publishing behavior is unacceptable. JITSI reserves the right to take necessary actions to preserve the integrity of the scholarly record and maintain public trust in academic publishing.

COPE Compliance

JITSI follows the ethical principles and best practices recommended by the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and encourages all participants in the publication process to uphold these standards.
